Robert De Niro says US suffering 'temporary insanity'

Hollywood actor Robert De Niro blasted the Trump administration’s stance on climate change, calling America a ‘backward’ country during a speech Sunday in the Middle East.
                                               

De Niro, a frequent critic of President Trump, said that in the country he’s describing, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency suggested last week that global warming may be a good thing for humanity.

EPA Chief Scott Pruitt, who has said in the past that carbon dioxide is not to blame for global warming, noted last week that a warming climate may not be so bad.

Although the EPA itself is unequivocal that a warming planet, and resulting environmental changes, is a danger to society and will likely lead to more fires, floods and other disasters, Pruitt questioned whether we know enough about how much temperatures will actually rise.

“Do we know what the ideal surface temperature should be in the year 2100 or year 2018?” he told the Nevada TV station. “It’s fairly arrogant for us to think we know exactly what it should be in 2100.”

Trump has questioned the science of climate change a few times, tweeting during a cold snap late last year that America “could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against.”

GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, announced Friday (Jan. 19) the nominees for the 29th annual GLAAD Media Awards live from the Sundance Film Festival. Among the nominees: Halsey, Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Sam Smith, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Billboard. GLAAD also announced a non-competitive special recognition award for JAY-Z’s song and music video “Smile,” featuring his mother Gloria Carter, who used the song to come out as a lesbian.
                                                     

The nominees for outstanding music artist include: Miley Cyrus, Younger Now; Halsey, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom; Honey Dijon, The Best of Both Worlds; Kehlani, SweetSexySavage; Kelela, Take Me Apart; Kesha, Rainbow; Perfume Genius, No Shape; Sam Smith, The Thrill of It All; St. Vincent, MASSEDUCTION; and Wrabel, We Could Be Beautiful. RCA is the sole record label with two nominations, for Miley and Kesha.

Several shows with musical elements received nominations as well: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is nominated for outstanding comedy series, Star and Nashville are among the shows nominated for best drama series, and both RuPaul’s Drag Race and The Voice scored noms for outstanding reality program.

Billboard, which launched a Billboard Pride vertical and corresponding Facebook page with its viral Love Letters to the LGBTQ Community project last June, received a nomination for outstanding magazine overall coverage. Other nominees in the field are The Advocate, People, Teen Vogue and Time.

The GLAAD Media Awards honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives. The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held in Los Angeles on April 12 and in New York on May 5. A full list of nominees can be found here.

Innocent men in Hollywood aren’t getting enough credit

Speaking with Business Insider, the “Downsizing” actor highlighted the takedown of predatory stars in Hollywood as a “watershed moment,” but said that in his experience, “the preponderance of men” in the industry are not sexual predators and thus deserve a pat on the back.

“We’re in this watershed moment, and it’s great, but I think one thing that’s not being talked about is there are a whole [lot] of guys — the preponderance of men I’ve worked with — who don’t do this kind of thing and whose lives aren’t going to be affected,” Damon said.

Additionally, the 47-year-old actor told the publication that the current climate hasn’t changed the way he approaches working with actors, directors or producers with sexual assault and/or harassment allegations against them.

Damon told Business Insider his perspective varies “case by case.”

“I mean, I wouldn’t want to work with somebody who — life’s too short for that. But the question of if somebody had allegations against them, you know, it would be a case-by-case basis. You go, ‘What’s the story here?’”

The actor’s comments come amid backlash from a previous interview he did with ABC News’ Peter Travers, which touched on similar topics.

During their discussion, Damon stated he didn’t feel it was fair to lump all the men accused of sexual harassment and assault together because “there’s a spectrum of behavior.”

The interview elicited a response from both Alyssa Milano and Minnie Driver.

Milano, who participated in the viral #MeToo campaign, tweeted her critique of Damon’s comments, writing that sexual assault and harassment hurt regardless of the magnitude of an incident.

Driver also reacted on Twitter, sharing an article from Vulture about Damon’s comments.

After her initial response, Driver shared an article she penned for The Guardian in which she stated that people like Damon “cannot understand what abuse is like.”

She said in the piece that she “desperately needed to say something,” after seeing a number of tone deaf comments from “good men.”

Damon has not yet responded to the backlash.

This is because Kardashian is all about using crystals for healing lately, and she wants to share her passion for these precious gemstones with all of her fans.

During that same episode of KUWTK, Kardashian's younger sister Kendall Jenner joined her in a little meditation session after the 22-year-old opened up about her struggles with sleep paralysis.

As a yoga teacher, I personally make it a point to meditate every single day. I genuinely think it's a great practice for anyone to try, whether you deal with chronic bouts of anxiety or not. And while I tend to prefer silent meditations in my own practice, listening to Kim Kardashian's new playlist while I worked today brought me a sense of serenity and peace that I didn't realize I needed in the midst of my hectic schedule.

Harmony Korine Wants to Show His Matthew McConaughey Stoner Comedy The Beach Bum

Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg's new stoner film The Beach Bum will truly be an experience. That's because director Harmony Korine plans to show it with—bongo drum roll—puffs of marijuana smoke in the air in the theaters. Impressively, the trailblazing auteur has currently secured 30 rooms in which he'll be able to do so. “I would very much like to see the film, when it’s released, be shown in rooms that spread curls of marijuana [smoke]," Korine told Telerama. It is possible in some states, such as California, that have legalized this drug for [medical use]. We already have about thirty rooms that have accepted.”
                                                   

It's likely though that none of those rooms are in Miami, Florida, where The Beach Bum is filming and where recreational marijuana use is not yet legal. Or in Key West, where "the action takes place" as Harmony Korine says, "in the extreme south of Florida." “It’s a comedy with Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg, about somewhat depressive marijuana smokers, in the spirit of Cheech and Chong,” Korine said. Other details that have surfaced about the film include the fact that McConaughey's character will be named Moondog, "a rebellious charmer in this fast-paced, uplifiting and irreverent comedy" as Deadline reports.

No doubt McConaughey will have an easy time slipping into the mindset of that character as the actor famously lived through a somewhat public depressive marijuana smoking episode. Back in 1999, the actor was arrested by Austin police after his neighbors reported him "disturbing the peace," a.k.a. playing the drums naked and dancing around his house. It was the marijuana, bong and pipe, however, that got him into trouble when the cops arrived, who later booked him on suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting transportation. Nearly two decades later, McConaughey opened up about the incident to Playboy, saying, "What's wrong with beating on your drums in your birthday suit. I have no regrets about the way I got there."

Selena Gomez Is Making More Than $30 Million for Her Puma Collab

The 25-year-old is collaborating with Puma and will appear in the brand's upcoming women's footwear campaign for the Phenom. "Officially a part of the fam @puma #pumapartner," Gomez wrote on Instagram along with a photo of herself in her Puma gear.
                                         

In a press release about the collab, Gomez said that being a part of the brand was "very exciting" for her. "Puma has changed the game when it comes to the mash-up of athletic wear and fashion," she shared. "It's amazing to see this influence on style and culture and I'm excited to be a part of it. I am hoping that we can create something special together. We already have some really cool projects in the works."

After the Puma collab was announced on Monday, a source says Selena is making over $30 million for the deal, which is expected to last around two years.

This news comes one month after Gomez's boyfriend The Weeknd designed sneakers for Puma. As for the couple's relationship, the insider tells us that despite reports, they're "not living together."

Gomez is currently filming a Woody Allen movie in New York City and The Weeknd is on tour. And while the couple does stay together sometimes when he comes back on his breaks, they are not officially living together. They both have their own houses in Los Angeles.

And while the couple isn't sharing a house, it sounds like they are sharing clothes.

"I mean, at this point, my boyfriend and I share closets, and [we're] just kind of throwing different ideas around," Gomez tells Vogue. "Sometimes I'll throw on his Puma stuff and just go out with my shoes. I'll just wear that as a little cute date-night dress or something to the movies. You want to feel confident in it. When you start stressing about it and feel you have to create this image...you shouldn't feel that way."
