On December 29th, fans were disappointed to discover that SM Entertainment had not informed fans prior to the pre-recording for the ‘2011 SBS Gayo Daejun‘, leaving Super Junior without a crowd support in the audience of such a prestigious event.

The members immediately took to their Twitters to apologize for the incident and also let out a bit of steam over the mishandling of the event.

Super Junior Is Well On Their Way

Super Junior is well on their way to becoming the artist with the ‘most sold albums’ for their 3rd consecutive year!
On December 13th, the Gaon Chart announced that Super Junior’s “Mr. Simple” album, which was released back in August, has sold a total of 339,707 copies through November, placing them at the top of this year’s album sales.
Coming in second place is SNSD‘s October release, “The Boys“, which has sold 293,042 copies through November. At this time, there is a 46,665 difference with Super Junior.
With less than a month to go until the year’s end, analysts have determined that because of the big gap, Super Junior is practically guaranteed to take home the crown this year.
The boys have held onto the title for the past two years, with “Bonamana” selling 200,193 copies in 2010, and “Sorry Sorry” winning the ‘Golden Disk Daesang’ in 2009, an award given only to the top album sales of the year.
Many believe that Super Junior’s distinct musical style, which has been labeled as ‘SJ Funky‘ by SM Entertainment music director Yoo Young Jin, is a factor behind their success. This combined with the members’ activities in acting and MCing have created a powerful public presence that launched them to the top each year.
One representative commented, “As the digital market continues to expand, Super Junior managed to show their power by dominating the album sales market for three years in a row. They shed all ideas of mystery and worked hard to get friendly with the public through mediums like variety shows, and that’s one of the key factors to their popularity.”

Super Junior Promises to Dazzle Fans

On November 20th, the boys of Super Junior held a press conference for their ‘Super Show 4‘ tour, which kicked off in Seoul recently. Members of the press flocked to the Olympic Park Stadium to see the superstars live and hear them express their thoughts on their latest adventure.
Leader Leeteuk began, “What’s special about this performance is the style we used to set up the stage. We took the idea of the “continental drift theory” and used it to create our own “stage lift theory”. Up till now, we have had performances where we were lifted up into the air. This time, however, the stage itself will move around, which will make this show even more spectacular.”
He confidently asserted, “If you listen to the lyrics of our song “Superman“, there’s a part that says ‘Our scale is the best’. To make those words come true, we will bring Korea a performance that has never been seen before.”
When asked to choose a theme for their show, Leeteuk chose, “The world is one“.
‘Super Show 4′ will bring that idea to life, as it’ll be travelling to venues all over the world. Super Junior will hold concerts in Seoul, Osaka, Taipei, Bangkok, Singapore, Beijing, and many more cities in Asia, the Americas, and Europe as well.
Super Junior will be performing songs from their 5th album, ‘Mr. Simple‘, as well as fan favorites and solo stages.

Super Junior-M's goal is to bring the Korean pop influence over to the Chinese market, re-representing the hits in Mandarin. Similar to the style of their main group Super Junior, Super Junior-M's music style falls into the category of mainstream pop, dance, and R&B. Dance pop songs with rock and hip hop influences are easily heard in their music, such as in "Me" and "The Moment", which contains guitar riffs and heavy bass sounds. Rap is not performed as often like the main group, but these influences can be heard in "The Moment" and also the rap remakes in "Don't Don" and "A Man In Love". Endorsements
Super Junior-M and Taiwanese singer Show Lo replaced Hong Kong entertainers, Nicholas Tse and Twins, for the 2008 summer season endorsement spots of Semir, a Chinese clothing brand. They were acclaimed to be sunny, young, and passionate; thus their image was suitable to endorse the brand.

Han portrayed Xia Lei, a youth who aspires to be a famous dancer. Other members of Super Junior-M gave cameo appearances in the final episode.
Super Junior-M released their comeback album, the EP Super Girl, in September 2009. The album garnered them a nomination for Best Vocal Group at the 21st Golden Melody Awards. The EP's title single "Super Girl" is Super Junior-M's most critically successful song to date, winning numerous accolades for its composition and performances.
2010–present: Lawsuit and lineup changes
In December 2009, Han filed for contract termination from SM Entertainment, claiming that the provisions of his contract were unlawful, harsh, and against his rights. Super Junior-M immediately canceled all of their future activities and performances in China and Taiwan. They returned to Korea to begin preparing for Super Junior's fourth studio album. Han, however, stayed in China and signed under a new management, releasing his debut solo album Geng Xin in July 2010. Although Super Junior-M remained largely inactive for most of 2010, they won several accolades for their song "Super Girl" at China's 2010 MusicRadio TOP Awards, including Most Popular Group, Golden Melody Award (Top 15), and Best Composition.
In December 2010, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Han. However, SM Entertainment announced that they will file an immediate appeal to reverse the decision. In September 2011, Han and SM Entertainment officially came to a mutual agreement regarding Han's contract, closing the case. Although Han will not continue his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment, the agency has yet to release an official statement regarding his status in Super Junior and Super Junior-M.
In February 2011, Super Junior-M resumed their activities with two new members from the main group, Sungmin and Eunhyuk, with the release of EP Perfection. A track in the album, "Love Is Sweet" is written by Jay Chou with lyrics penned by Chou's lyricist, Vincent Fang. Perfection was first released in Taiwan on February 25, followed by a Korean release two days later in South Korea. Hong Kong, Singapore, and selected provinces of China released the album on March 4. It debuted at number 2 on Taiwan's G-music chart, and stayed on the chart for four weeks. The repackaged version of the album was released on April 29, debuted at number 2, and stayed on the chart for 10 weeks. In March 2011, Siwon and Donghae were cast as the main leads in the Taiwanese idol television drama Skip Beat!, a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name. The drama is scheduled to premiere on December 18, 2011 on Formosa TV.
Super Junior-M stayed in Taiwan for over two months to promote Perfection. The album won them several awards at the 2010 HK Asian-Pop Music Festival, including Best Song Performance and Best Stage Performance. They won Most Popular Group at the 1st Annual Global Chinese Golden Chart, and Best Group at the 2011 Singapore HIT Awards.

Super Junior Goes With Super Show 4

On November 20th, Super Junior rocked the Olympic Park Stadium in Seoul with a spectacular concert for ‘Super Show 4‘, their latest global tour.
The boys held two shows on the 19th and 20th, attracting a crowd of over 20,000 people. Fans flew in from all over the world to catch the home shows in Seoul, with some hailing from France, England, and the States.
Super Junior kicked off their show with ”Superman“, whose lyrics (“Our scale is the best”) reflected Super Show 4′s ambition to show the world that Super Junior were more than just idols. The production and elaborate stage set-up ensured that their ‘scale’ really was the best — Super Junior performed on a giant, 20-meter-long moving stage, in addition to utilizing colorful visuals, lasers, and cranes to boost their ‘wow’ factor.
One of the most impressive aspects of this entire concert was in the members’ musical growth. Fans got to see a plethora of individual stages, with each member showing off their unique talents. For example, Leeteuk wowed with his smooth saxophone cover of “She” from the ‘Notting Hill‘ soundtrack, while Super Junior-M‘s Henry brought out special guest Amber from f(x) to perform Justin Bieber‘s “Baby“.
The concert lasted for over four hours and included songs from their 5th album, “Mr. Simple“, as well as fan favorites like “Sorry Sorry“, “Don’t Don“, and “U“. In their final MC session, Super Junior thanked everyone for coming out; Leeteuk expressed that it was an especial experience for him, as he’ll be joining the army next year.
Concert-goers were awestruck by the scale and magnitude of ‘Super Show 4′, as it truly seemed to show that Super Junior weren’t just idols with manufactured talent — they were talented, legitimate artists with a grand vision and performance level to match.

SJM's Album "ME" - Korean Version

SJ-M and Jang Ri In were cordially invited by Jackie Chan to perform at the Beijing Olympics Stadium ("Bird's Nest") in conjunction with Jackie Chan's annual "Jackie Chan and Friends" concert (also called "Descendents of the Dragon" concert) on May 1st. All the proceedings from the concert would go to charity.
This year's "Jackie Chan and Friends" concert involves over 100 top China singers such as Chris Lee. Having able to perform with these singers further recognizes SJ-M's and Jang Ri In's popularity in China. Jackie Chan had announced the invitation of SJ-M and Jang Ri In to this concert on April 19 during a press conference and in response to this, SJ-M had expressed their gratitude and feelings about it through a video with Sina*. On the other hand, Jang Ri In presented Jackie Chan with a Korean traditional mask as a gift in the concert to thank Jackie Chan for inviting her to "perform in [this] meaningful concert" and she hopes that "[the concert] will bring many people hope and happiness". Amused by the Korean traditional mask, Jackie Chan even put on the mask personally on the spot. For those who don't know it yet, SJM has released a repackaged version of their first album "ME". This repackaged album is now available at Yesasia.com and you can choose among three versions: (1) Hong Kong Deluxe (2) Asia Deluxe or (3) Asia Deluxe Preorder Edition.
All three versions/editions are basically the same. The CD+DVD repackaged album includes the original music CD "ME" album plus a DVD featuring CM clips, the making of "U" music video with chinese subtitles AND the official "U" music video with english subtitles.
What, then, are the differences between the three editions? Basically, it's all about the prices, expected date of release and freebies.

Fans congratulated the members for their hard work and rejoiced over the affectionate pictures uploaded by the idol. The white and black photo contains ten members posing together like true friends, while the bottom image shows 13 members from their early times.

“At daybreak in Spain, I was walking home to my hotel when suddenly a young man was beside me. He started to talk and tried to pick a fight, and whipped out a knife. I screamed and was luckily able to run away,” he narrated on his Twitter. “Be careful when travelling alone.”

SJ's new development

The Super Junior members were one of the first Korean idols to begin television presenting and radio hosting. Heechul was the first in the group to be a selected MC for the music programs Popular Songs and Show Music Bank. He was also the first in the group to host radio shows, and co-hosted Youngstreet Radio Show with ex-M.I.L.K. member Park Heebon in early 2005. Heechul has also been the MC for the Dream Concert since 2008. Leeteuk, Kangin, and Shindong made their MC debut on Mnet's music program M! Countdown five days after Super Junior's debut performance. In August 2006, both Leeteuk and Eunhyuk founded their own radio show, Super Junior Kiss the Radio, which has become one of the more tuned-in radio channels in the country.

The group also founded their own reality television program, and on November 11, 2007, the premiere of Explorers of the Human Body aired on SBS. The humorous show introduced the thirteen members as regular guests for the program, answering curious questions and doing demonstrations involving the human body. The show has been the highest rating program of the reality line-up every Sunday, but due to Super Junior's tight schedule, the program ended quickly with thirteen episodes on February 3, 2008. The popularity of the program had inspired producers to create a second season, although no announcements of producing the next season has been announced.

Twelve members, excluding Kyuhyun, appeared in the group's debut film Attack on the Pin-Up Boys. The first film released by SM Pictures, it premiered on July 26, 2007 in Korea. "Wonder Boy", performed by Super Junior, is used as the theme song of the film. Although the film was promoted as a typical high school comedy, the movie gained positive reviews from critics, praising that the movie had a well-oriented plot unlike most idol films. However, ticket sales remained low in the premiere month despite its unexpected success in the sales the first week. The film was a box-office bomb, failing to attract more than 102,600 admissions and was proven to be a big loss for SM Pictures. However, both versions of the film's DVD became a best-selling record and were sold-out in both Korea and oversea markets, which was more than enough to make up for the production loss of 8.5 billion won.

Siwon was among the first of Super Junior to have participated in silver-screen productions, appearing in the Hong Kong historical action drama film, A Battle of Wits as the large supporting role of Prince Liang Shi in 2006. The cast promoted the movie throughout China with a short tour of four cities in November 2006. While the film received mixed reviews, Siwon garnered positive notices for his performance. He also received praises from co-star Andy Lau, stating that Siwon is a wonderful actor and that he "sets a good example for young Hong Kong idols."

In 2007, Heechul, Kangin, and Shindong lent their voices to the three chipmunks in the Korean release of Alvin and the Chipmunks.

In 2008, Kangin had a major role in the Korean-language film, Hello Schoolgirl.

A New Actor Star - Choi Siwon

Super Junior is set to begin their follow-up activities this week as they have finally released their repackaged album, “A-Cha.” However, it has been announced that Siwon will not be able to participate in the follow-up activities due to his new drama “Poseidon,” which made its first broadcast on September 19th.

“Poseidon” is a maritime police drama, the first of its kind, that features Siwon as one of the leads. However, because of the last-minute shooting schedule for “Poseidon,” which overlaps Super Junior’s follow-up activities, Siwon will be unable to participate in “A-Cha”performances.

Super Junior is set to have their comeback on KBS Music Bank this week with “A-Cha.” Their last song “Mr. Simple” achieved 5 consecutive wins, the most this year, and “A-Cha” is expected to have similar results.

Will boy band idol-and-actor Choi Si-won score a ratings success this time around?

After starring in two not-so-successful dramas, he is taking a third stab with a series that has been mired in controversy.

“Poseidon” ― a coast guard TV series ― drew attention last year with a line-up featuring singer-turned-actor Eric and TVXQ idol U-Know and its oceanic backdrop.

Then, delays in production led Eric to abandon ship and rumors abounded that “Poseidon” was sinking.

Fortunately, a new cast was unveiled months later, with Super Junior member Choi Si-won on board and U-Know no longer in the lead but nevertheless slated to make a cameo appearance.

After playing the lead in the less-than-successful SBS rom-com “Oh! My Lady,” actor Choi took a supporting role in the “IRIS” spin-off, SBS’ “ATHENA: Goddess of War.”

Despite a star-studded cast, including veteran actors Cha Seung-won and Jung Woo-sung, the action blockbuster failed to maintain high ratings during its 20-episode run.

Undeterred by his not-so-hot track record, Choi is going for yet another action-heavy thriller.

Super Junior‘s Yesung made a tearful confession about his father on the most recent broadcast of SBS‘s ‘Strong Heart‘. He stated, “To be honest, I didn’t like my father when I was a child. He was always strict, and we rarely talked. Our relationship was so distant that I sometimes wondered if I had any attachment towards my father.”
Yesung went on, “Our relationship is really similar to the relationship Choi Minsoo‘s character had with his father in the drama, ‘Sandglass‘. That’s how scary my father was, and because both my parents worked, our time together was scarce. When I came to Seoul to become a singer, they were against it, and they didn’t even like the fact that I listened to music.”
The singer felt very choked up as he expressed his emotions, and he stopped to gain composure. He went on to say, “Three years ago, I suddenly had 50 missed calls. My father was badly hurt… and he needed a blood transfusion. I left during a recording, and I thought about a lot of things as I went over to my father. Three of his fingers had gotten caught in a machine, and it began to suck my father in. It happened during a night shift so no one could hear him, and he said he was unable to scream. That’s when I kept thinking how frustrating it must’ve been.”

“After that incident, I decided that I should go try to connect with my father first. I thought that our family should have time together. Because of this, I moved my family to Seoul, and I set up a coffee shop for my father.”
When the hosts asked him how his father was currently, Yesung answered, “He doesn’t have much balance. I think it’s because he was badly hurt. He can’t close his fingers or use his left hand.” Yesung also expressed how happy he was with their relationship now, stating,  “Now, my father is like an older brother to me. I never knew how innocent and cute my father was. I’m really happy now.”

Part 2-Biography

Biography

TVXQ debuted in Korea on December 26th, 2003 during a BoA and Britney Spears Christmas special performance. They quickly found themselves at #1 on the Korean Charts with the single "HUG" after which they released their first album TRI-ANGLE. Their fanclub "Cassiopeia" was born, named after the constellation of five stars, matching the letters "TVfXQ" when typed on keyboard.

Since debut, the band has performed all over Asia, specifically China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan and has gained much recognition. In South Korea, their albums have consistently sold well with their last 3rd album ("O" Union) being the highest selling Korean album in 2006 and winning the group many awards. Due to the familiarity of the group in other East Asian countries, they have also been invited to do several commericals outside of Korea. TVXQ released singles in China, with parts of the songs redone in Chinese.

After sweeping major awards in South Korea, TVXQ worked in Japan for a year to gain a stronger foothold in the Japanese music industry. They released their 2nd Japanese album, Five in the Black and had consecutive monthly releases of singles from March till December. Many of their singles placed on Oricon's top three on their debut.

"Summer Dream" became TVXQ's most successful Japanese summer single in 2007, debuting as #1 and with sales of 112,771 copies in a week. Their single "SHINE / Ride On" debuted at #2 on the Oricon daily charts in October. Japanese singer Koda Kumi collaborated with TVXQ for her upbeat 38th single "Last Angel" in November, which ranked #3 on debut. In the same month, their 14th Japanese single "FOREVER LOVE" also debuted at #3. In December, the title song single "Together" for the "Cinnamon" animation movie debuted at #2.

In early April, the members began hosting a weekly radio program called "TVXQ Bigeastation" on Japan FM Network channel, aired on seven local FM stations. The group represented Korea on MTV's Video Music Awards Japan and won the 'Best Buzz Asia in Korea' award on May 26th, 2007. They were also invited to many prominent Japanese talk and music shows such as Hey!Hey!Hey! and Utaban during their stay.

Despite the prolonged absence from South Korea, TVXQ has been able to maintain their popularity in their homeland. During a virtual presidential election by MTV Korea, the group was voted as the "President of the Republic of Korean Music" among thirty other candidates by netizens. They were also appointed as the Korea's e-government ambassadors by the South Korean government. In Thailand, TVXQ had the highest foreign artists sales of 114,027 for 2007, while their single " SHINE" was #1 of the Top 10 of No.1 on Year Chart 2007 charts by Channel V Thailand.

TVXQ started off 2008 year with their 16th single "Purple Line", by the Korean composer of TVXQ's hits "Rising Sun" and ""O"-Jung.Ban.Hap.", being released both in Japan and South Korea. "Purple Line" topped the Oricon Weekly Chart becoming the group's first #1 on the weekly charts in Japan. The group released their third Japanese album, entitled T which contained songs from their past singles. As an exclusive extra, TVXQ added "Kiss Shita Mama, Sayonara" which was composed and written by the members Micky Yoochun and Hero Jaejoong, and their own version of "LAST ANGEL". T debuted in Oricon charts as #2 and entered the Top 20 of the United World Chart at #19.

Rhythm Zone, a side label of Avex, created a new marketing strategy for TVXQ by releasing five additional singles in February and March 2008 in consecutive weeks after the release of the album T. Each single contained a member's solo and a song that was part of "TRICK" included in the T album.

On March 28th, TVXQ was appointed the "Goodwill Ambassador for Asia" by Universal Studios Japan to promote the attractions of USJ.

The group released its 22nd single, Beautiful You / Sennen Koi Uta (千年恋うた‎‎) on April 23, 2008. The single debuted at number one on the Oricon daily and weekly chart, becoming TVXQ's third single to reach that position on the daily charts and second single to reach that position in the weekly chart. The group thus became the second non-Japanese Asian artist to do so, the first being Taiwanese artist Ouyang Feifei (歐陽菲菲), 24 years and 5 months ago.

On May 17, 2008, TVXQ performed "Rising Sun," "Tonight," and "Purple Line" at the 6th Korean Music Festival in Los Angeles, California. They also took part in ensemble encore performances of "Balloons" and SMTown's "Let's Go on a Trip." In addition, the group performed as the closing act at the 14th Annual Dream Concert at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul on June 7, 2008.

On June 12th, TVXQ ended their 2nd Asia Tour in Beijing with a performance for over 200,000 fans; the tour had begun on February 23, 2007 in Seoul, and spanned 13 performances covering Taipei, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Beijing. On top of that, their two separate live tours in Japan during 2007 and 2008 drew crowds of 55,000 and 150,000, respectively, for a total of 390,000 audience members attending the concerts.

On July 22, 2008, TVXQ became the first non-Japanese Asian artist to have three number one hits on the weekly Oricon singles chart, when their single Why Did I Fall In Love With You? (どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう?) attained the number one position with weekly sales of 68,000 copies.

On June 22, 2008, TVXQ was invited to perform at Avex's 20th anniversary general meeting of stockholders at the Saitama Super Arena. About 8,910 stockholders and their families attended the general meeting to congratulate Avex on their 20th founding anniversary; the number of Avex stockholders had increased by 2,800 compared to previous year.

TVXQ, which established itself as the face of Avex, was among the performers at the event.

Other performers included singer and songwriter Noriyuki Makihira, TRF, and seven-member dance vocal group Exile.[34] In Japan, TVXQ was also listed at #16 in the Most Searched Male Artist when Yahoo! Japan released its 2008 Search Word Ranking for the first half of the year.

TVXQ was also chosen as the new faces of the Lotte Duty Free Shops (DFS). A Lotte DFS representative explained that TVXQ was a well-known group all across Asia, so they believed that TVXQ was the most suitable choice as spokespeople for the Lotte Duty Free Shops. At the beginning of September, TVXQ shot the advertisements for Lotte at a studio in Seoul with photographer Kwon Young-ho. These ads will be released in November, which is also when TVXQ begins participating in various events sponsored by Lotte DFS.

On September 21, 2008, TVXQ performed a showcase event for the release of their fourth studio album entitled TVXQ’s "Giving Young Adults Hopes and Dreams-Fall Mini Concert". It was located in front of City Hall, Seoul Plaza. This was TVXQ's first public performance for their fourth album as they performed the title song, 주문 (Mirotic). This concert will be broadcast on October 10th on SBS.

The group's 4th Korean album entitled "MIROTIC" was released on September 26th, 2008; it was originally scheduled for release on September 24th, but was delayed due to the high amount of pre-orders of 300,000 albums. Over 350,000 copies of the album were sold on the first day of release, including the pre-order sales. The title song, 주문 (Mirotic), was composed by Remee,Troelsen and Lucas Secon, who also wrote BoA's U.S. debut single "Eat You Up".
SM Entertainment stated that when it first heard the song earlier in January, it knew it would be the perfect song to revamp the image of the group.

The group finished recording the song in June. Kenny Wormald, who has worked with Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown and Christina Aguilera, was put in charge of choreography of the title track, Mirotic which was unveiled online on September 19 through major music portals including Melon, Dosirak and Soribada.
Two days after its launch in music stores, Mirotic rose on music sale charts. According to Hanteo charts, the CD-only version of Mirotic has sold 90,000 copies as of September 30. It has risen to #1 on the weekly and monthly charts. The album has also topped Hot Tracks, Yes24, and other music sale charts. Mirotic is currently the best selling album of 2008 in Korea. It sold around 500,000 copies until the end of December 2008.

Tong Vfang Xien Qi

TVXQ (Tong Vfang Xien Qi) was originally a five-member Korean boy band specializing in dance, acappella, pop, and R&B. The group's name in Japanese is Tohoshinki (THSK), while in Korea they are best known as Dong Bang Shin Ki (DBSK /DBSG). Tong Vfang Xien Qi was the official Chinese name given to them, since the chinese characters could be read in many of the Asian countries. TVXQ has enjoyed great popularity and success in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, and other East Asian countries.

In Japan, they became the first foreign male group to top the weekly Oricon charts. In Thailand, TVXQ was the first Asian group to win two Thailand Music Awards, and had the highest foreign artist sales in the country.

According to Oricon Style, TVXQ's popularity rose in Japan by three percent with every single release in 2006 and by five percent with every release in 2007. It was also stated that during 2007, 14.1% of Japanese fans were female while 4.6% were male with age demographics between 10 to 40 years old.

During legal issues, three members of TVXQ - Jae Joong, Xiah Junsu And Micky Yoochun debuted in Japan in 2010 as JYJ, and later made a global debut in October with the English language album The Beginning. Meanwhile, U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin, who remain under SM Entertainment's contract, continue their music career under the name TVXQ.

The five members were chosen via several auditions by the label company SM Entertainment, who brought singers such as BoA, H.O.T, Shinhwa, and SES among other top korean artists. The first selected was Kim Junsu for his singing ability. He entered SM at the age of twelve and was trained for almost six years before he debuted as Xiah Junsu.
The second member added, who would later become the leader, was Jung Yunho, who later debuted under the name U-Know Yunho. He was chosen for his dancing ability when he won first place in a dance competition. Previously he had rapped as well as done work with Dana.

The third member added was Kim Jaejoong, who won first place in a competition for both looks and voice. His nickname Youngwoong, which translates to Hero from Korean, was given to him by a fortune teller.

Fourth came the youngest member, Shim Changmin, who was chosen for his vocals. Finally Park Yoochun was added before the group's debut.

Yoochun had been living in Chantilly, Virginia in the United States with his family, where he attended high school and went by the name Micky. He was spotted by SM Entertainment in an all-state singing competition, where he won first place.

JYJ Junsu

JYJ Junsu‘s stellar performances in Tears of Heaven and Mozart have softened the critical eyes of a veteran actress on her prejudices about idols acting in musicals.

Last week, musical actress Park Haemi guested on cable channel QTV’s “Soo Mi Ok” and talked about her family life and professional career.

When MC Kim Jongmin asked her, “There are a lot of musical actors who debuted as idols — is there anyone that you think is particularly good and talented?” she chose Kim Junsu, who is currently reprising his role in the musical Mozart.
She went on to explain that she appreciated how idols are attempting to be well-rounded entertainers these days, but warned that they need to practice. A lot.

“If they practice diligently and do their best, then they will be able to show their true merit.”

The fact that Park Haemi acknowledged Junsu’s talent is pretty significant, since just last year she told reporters that musicals starring idol singers were not true musicals — they were just events where idols perform.

She had said it was becoming a real issue within the musical industry, and that these gimmicky events were a disservice to audiences who wanted to see real art.

Park Haemi, who has also starred in the television sitcom Unstoppable Highkick and most recently in the drama Daemul, is a well-respected musical actress. She’s also currently one of the judges on Kim Yuna’s Kiss and Cry figure-skating reality show.
